Housed in a circa 1856 building, the space features exposed historic brick, original wood columns, and refined interiors that seamlessly blend the historic charm with modern sophistication. Known for hosting weddings, corporate gatherings, and soirées, Merchant’s Hall embodies the city’s rich history while providing a versatile backdrop for unforgettable events.

BREAKING DOWN THE BRAND
THE VISION
To blend the historical significance of the space with modern glamour. The venue’s old-world interior needed to be captured in a sophisticated and harmonious identity that celebrates Merchant’s Hall’s unique blend of vintage tradition and luxury. A brand that speaks to its high-end clientele and Southern way of life will position Merchant’s Hall as the venue of choice in the heart of downtown Charleston.
LOGO DESIGN
Inspired by the city’s rich port heritage, the primary logo uses a flourished script with nautical flair that honors the building’s history at 36 North Market Street—once home to merchants in the 1800s and 1900s. A braided rope element is woven into the design, serving as both a decorative divider and a circular border within the logo mark. Designed with a timeless approach that honors the venue’s roots, the identity conveys sophistication while feeling firmly anchored in the city’s past. The rope motif appears throughout the brand’s identity, reinforcing Merchant’s Hall’s connection to Charleston’s iconic seafaring culture.
COLOR PALETTE
The color palette draws inspiration from Charleston’s rich architecture and classic style. A bright, pure white—named after the iconic church steeples that dot the skyline of Charleston, known as the “Holy City”—serves as the primary neutral. Warm tan and rich gold are authentic, opulent and earthy. A romantic, elegant purple adds just the right touch of sophistication, while a deep, grounding black provides contrast to ensure the palette feels balanced. Together, these colors reflect the grandeur of the venue’s exposed brick, chandeliers and antique mirrors.

CELEBRATING SUCCESSION
Merchant’s Hall has garnered significant press attention since opening in 2018, earning features in Wedding Wire’s “9 Industrial and Unique Charleston Wedding Venues,” Southern Living’s “The Best Wedding Venues in Charleston,” and Business Insider’s “The Best Wedding Venue in Every State.” The venue has also appeared in publications like Essence, Equally Wed, and Southern Bride, showcasing its wide appeal across diverse audiences. Its visual identity marries (pun intended) the unique story of the space with current style, and the brand continues to captivate couples, event planners, and businesses seeking the ultimate Charleston venue for unforgettable events.
